Sometimes in life, you reach a point where you don’t know what you want or what to expect. At times, this funk can lead to depression and anxiety, and numerous pills and visits to the shrink. Eventually, most people emerge from despair looking for something new … something that will bring joy and hapPIness to their life, perhaps some meaning and a guiding light from their time of darkness.
This journey can be summarized by the popular phrase penned by our forefathers as “the pursuit of hapPIness”. As with any journey, there can be distractions and setbacks, but the pursuit must continue. Even at times, it is not clearly defined what brings ultimate hapPIness. Is the endless journey indeed the actual reward?
It’s irrelevant at first, even in the uncertainty. Moving forward in the pursuit of hapPIness will inevitably at least overrule the dark brain cloud syndrome. Moving into the light at least allows a clearer vision of which direction to perhaps head towards.
When you first experience hapPIness, it seems like an incredible experience, but really, the first taste is just the tip of the iceberg. It’s kind of like PI; at first glance, PI is 3.14. Over extended periods, you self-actualize that, like PI, hapPIness has so many more levels … shortly, PI is 3.1459. The pursuit allows further exploration and definition of haPIness. Essentially, PI and hapPIness can both be truly infinite if you pursue them. PI is infinite and irrational, and it goes on forever without ending or repeating, much like hapPIness.
Hopefully, someday, we can all experience infinite hapPIness. It requires calculation and complex equations, but who said life or infinite hapPIness would come without a little bit of effort? Good luck on your journey, and I hope you find as much hapPIness as I.
